The Monash Chorale is a four part community choir of men and women, and welcomes new members.
Previous choral experience is an advantage but not essential. The same applies to the ability to read music, as we provide recordings to help members learn their parts.
We do not require prospective members to audition in order to join.
In normal years (sadly not the currrent situation!) we perform three main concerts each year, in May, August/September and December, often with soloists and a small orchestra or other instrumental groups. Guest soloists and orchestra members are often professional or semi-professional musicians. On occasions we join with another choir to present joint performances.
Our fees are set to cover the costs of our rehearsal period, and so are charged independently of whether or not the member decides to sing in the concert. The fee for the August to December 2021 rehearsal period is $50. This is a little less than our normal rehearsal period fee, to account for reduced rehearsals in the current COVID-19 situation.
Prospective members are encouraged to visit a rehearsal or two before deciding whether to join. Please see our "Visit a Rehearsal" page for the current rehearsal details.
